About Us
After years of producing art work, my wife and I wanted to bring our art to you. We are Greg and Jackie Karkowsky. You may also know me as "gregkarkowskyart".
Greg was Born in Pittsburgh, and then schooled at the Art Students League of New York, Greg has been exposed to a variety of art movements through out his career before finding his own.
Greg is able to maintain his own style and individuality without succumbing to the influence of other artists, and still today, chooses to create a path of his own.
Greg has extended his creativity and wit to furniture making, as well as T shirt design. Like his artwork, the furniture he builds is brightly colored, and made with aluminum, plexi glass and the occasional fabric cushion or leather. His shirts are silk screened images either directly onto the shirt itself, or onto muslin and then machine stitched onto an American Apparel jersey t-shirt with contrasting thread. All of which embrace images and textures of modern culture.
You can see familiar images of popular culture throughout Greg’s artwork. He is able to meticulously transfer and those images from adhesive vinyl, and then adheres them to a back painted plexi glass surface. He is also able to incorporate some of those images into an illuminated light box. His style has recently embraced the simplicity of minimalism, and yet able to convey his wit and intelligence, thirst for knowledge.
The t-shirts you see on this sight are spontaneous, and will always change.
